Additional information

The volume is the final publication and main output of team 2 of the European Science Foundation research programme 'Occupation in Europe: The Impact of National Socialist and Fascist Rule' (ISSN: 1753-7894). All the contributors had significant responsibility for shaping the entire volume, which arose from a series of workshops, and for determining its research content. As the editors' foreword (p. xi) makes clear, it is a 'collective volume that reflects the work of all of the members of the research team'. With Erica Carter, Vincent co-wrote chapter 5, 'Culture and Legitimacy' (pp. 147-76), a theme they had taken responsibility for, and which they had directly researched throughout the project. In addition, all contributors provided comparative material for other chapters and were involved in determining the structure of the book and the thematic division of the chapters, which emerged from the joint workshops.
