Double-weighted statement

This book, based on six years of research and utilising a wealth of original primary sources collected during this period, provides a new historiographical interpretation of Zambian political history focused on opposition movements, that challenges the hitherto dominant nationalist historiography of post-colonial Zambia. Amongst these sources are interviews with dozens of opposition leaders, the memoirs of political activists, documents from the archives of the former ruling United National Independence Party (UNIP) and opposition parties, and documents from archives in South Africa, Portugal, the US and the UK, the vast majority of which have never been published.
