Additional information

The volume emerged from an international conference that Gottlieb co-organized with Richard Toye on "The Aftermath of Suffrage: What Happened After the Vote was Won?" Humanities Research Institute, University of Sheffield, 24-25 June, 2011. Dividing the work equally, the editors approached those who gave the best papers that spoke to the conference's mission statement, secured a publication contract , peer reviewed all the chapters, and oversaw the editorial process. They also co-wrote the substantial "Introduction" (pp.1-18), and Gottlieb contributed a chapter "'We Were Done the Moment We Gave Women the Vote': The Female Franchise Factor and the Munich By-elections, 1938-1939".
