This paper resulted from a British Council and Royal Society funded collaborative project with Cuba and details the use of microwave activated deposition to create high adhesion TiO2 on metals. The work contributed to the development of practical materials for solar disinfection of water in developing countries under a collaborative EUFP6 project (SODISWATER, project no. 031650)
