Finite element simulation of projectile perforation through a ballistic fabric
To a body armour material, very limited properties can be tested. FEA is an important alternative to characterise fabric ballistic protection. The predicted properties from validated FE model would provide additional information to understand the impact phenomenon. This paper reported a FE model for simulating ballistic perforation test. The predicted properties on the dynamic response of ballistic fabric revealed that a specific fabric would be engineered against certain level of threat by the finding that there exists an impact energy under which fabric absorbs maximum impact energy. Sun was author, drafted the paper; Chen is the manager of the project.
