Additional information

This paper is concerned with system identification in process control. The work was undertaken during a secondment to Sunderland of a co-author (Maerte) from the University of Mons. It describes a recently developed suite of integral equation methods for identifying first and second order plus dead time models of industrial processes. One of the methods was applied to a laboratory process and a Matlab-based toolbox was developed to facilitate its use. It represents the beginning of an ongoing research project in which the algorithms are being further developed, for use with a wider range of applications, including mechanical systems.
