Additional information

This is a key output of a joint project with a world leading research centre at Yanshan University, China through One-Hundred-Excellent-Talents-Programme (09215106D, Yang of Yanshan University, £30k, 2008-2011). It is a key paper leading to a patent (ZL-2010-1-0236826, 23/07/2010-22/07/2030). The work has led to the development of crack resistant welding materials worth an annual market of £5m in an industrial company since 2011 (Managing Director, Special Welding Industry Ltd, China). The reported characterisation program was used in another publication (Welding Journal) on new hardfacings development, receiving American Welding Society’s A.F. Davis Silver Medal Award in 2013 (Senior Manager, AWS).
