Additional information

This paper, an output from the TSB funded ProCeSS consortium, evaluates the potential of using low grade MgO, a waste product, as a cement replacement for the solidification and stabilisation (S/S) of electric arc furnace dust. The results underpin the importance of using industrial by-products as alternative binders to cement, in order to improve the sustainability of this technique and produce stabilised products that can be disposed of with minimal environmental impact. The results were fundamental in informing, using a systematic approach, the steel industry on their future waste management strategies.
