Additional information

This paper develops a methodology for calculating capacity-credit of micro-combined heat and power: this is the first such mathematical formulation for micro-CHP, which requires a different approach to that for windpower. Capacity-credit is an important parameter in electricity system planning, measuring the amount of conventional generation displaced by an alternative technology. Every country faces tough decarbonisation targets but also security of supply concerns; the paper offers a methodology to facilitate comparison of the environmental performance of a new technology with its contribution to energy supply security. The paper makes a significant contribution to this very important area of national/international policy.
