Additional information

<28> Current non-invasive diagnostic procedures to detect skin cancer rely on two-dimensional (2D) views of the skin surface. Since the skin surface is an object in three-dimensional (3D) space, this paper has proposed a novel surface tilt orientation feature to quantify the skin and the lesion in 3D space. After it was published, the first author was invited to review papers for IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine. The research involved collaboration with Bangor University and the Institute of Cancer Research. This work was funded by grants from EPSRC and the Natural Science Foundation of China.
