Additional information

A new model for human reaction during the initial stages of a dwelling fire “is clearly presented and thoroughly validated” (Reviewer reports from Assistant Managing Editor). The work was supported by a responsive EPSRC grant (EP/F041993/1, Wang, Wall & Jenkinson, £135k, 2009-2012) in collaboration with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Authority (MFRA) (Director, MFRA) and Manchester University (Director of the Decision and Cognitive Sciences Research Centre, Manchester University). The research work has been used as a key reference by the MFRA in fire fighter training, fire alarm installation planning and accident investigation (Strategic Planning Manager, MFRA).
