A Decentralized Self-Adaptation Mechanism for Service-Based Applications in the Cloud

<07>The paper makes novel use of market-based control theory to self-manage cloud-based architectures with respect to dynamic changes in Quality of Service (QoS). It views composition decisions of cloud-based architectures as utilities, which need to be optimised from both the provider’s and application perspectives. The vision is forward looking; it is likely to impact the way cloud infrastructure will dynamically self-manage its utilities. A WICSA (2009), ISOC/Service Wave (2010) and ACM SAC(2010) papers by the authors confirm the acceptance of the vision (these venues are internationally leading). IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering is among the most prestigious Software Engineering journals.
