Additional information

<06> Originality: Paper takes a novel topology control approach to view channel configuration in the same way as configuring other radio transmission parameters like transmit power and bit-rate.

Significance: It is among the earliest proposed channel assignment algorithms for multi-radio wireless mesh networks and has been referenced and used for comparison by scores of subsequent papers.

Rigour: This paper shows that the optimisation problem for channel assignment in multi-radio wireless mesh networks is NP-complete. An ILP formulation is presented to obtain lower bound for the optimum, which is then used for benchmarking the proposed polynomial heuristic for channel assignment.
