<06> Originality: This paper proposes a novel learning-based protocol (LCAP) for the challenging problem of distributed multi-radio channel allocation in wireless mesh networks. Unlike prior approaches, it does not entail significant inter-nodal coordination overhead.

Significance: Minimal coordination requirements and inherently adaptive nature of the LCAP approach make it well suited for spectrum management in emerging wireless networks based on opportunistic use of unlicensed spectrum with spatio-temporal variability in usage (e.g., TV white-space networks) as well as for other self-management operations (e.g., energy-efficient basestation operation) in next-generation mobile networks.

Rigour: Published at a top networking conference with 18% acceptance rate.
