Double-weighted statement

This 130,000 word monograph contains the equivalent of eight substantial journal articles (plus an Introduction). Each chapter considers in detail a separate phase of this decade of compositional activity, plus a concluding chapter that assesses the post-60s legacy. Every chapter comprises original research, being dependent upon previously unexamined archive materials from new interviews and a range of Dutch libraries and archives. Chapter 6 is a lightly revised version of my 2008 Musical Quarterly article, which is consequently not being separately submitted for REF.
