A theory of phase singularities for image representation and its applications to object tracking and image matching
In image processing, one of the most significant and fundamental problems is to find the best way for image representation. This work represents the first development in image matching and image representation by using phase singularities; it has been ranked among the top 100 most downloaded IEEE Xplore articles in 2009 (http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/stamp/stamp.jsp?arnumber=05447063). The unique properties of phase singularities for image matching promise better repeatability rates and has led to other developments in pattern recognition (DOI: 10.1007/s11704-010-0337-3). This work has also led to invited talks at CLEO/Europe-EQEC 2009, Munich (http://2009.cleoeurope.org/speakers/invited.php) – Topic CH, and a granted US patent (USP 7.813.900 B2).
