Additional information

The most highly referenced paper in Géotechnique (2008) provides a comprehensive explanation of experimentally observed rate-dependence and creep, and demonstrates the importance of modelling anisotropy evolution in the rate-dependent response of soft soils. A collaboration between Karstunen and Marie Curie Fellow, Leoni, under the EC-funded AMGISS RTN (MRTN-CT-2004-512120, Karstunen coordinator). Model forms the basis of a new creep model, introduced in a keynote paper in 2013 (http://www.crcnetbase.com/doi/abs/10.1201/b13890-8), which is planned to be included in the Plaxis finite element code as soon as the journal paper describing the new formulation in detail has been published (Plaxis BV, Dr Ronald Brinkgreve, r.brinkgreve@plaxis.nl).
