This two volume study constitutes the first comprehensive reconstruction and analysis of German occupation policy in Lithuania during World War II. It is based on sources of over 30 archives in seven countries, using extensively Lithuanian, Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian and German sources. It analyses the murder of 420,000 victims, including Jews, Soviet prisoners of war, Soviet civilians et.al. in its specific context and over a period of three years. The methodological and analytical approach of this study integrates previously separated perspectives.
