Carbon-doped TiO 2 coating on multiwalled carbon nanotubes with higher visible light photocatalytic activity
This paper reports a pioneering technique for the preparation of a novel nanomaterial composite, where size, morphology, structure and chemical composition of crystalline TiO2 coatings can be controlled at the atomic level. The material has been proved to possess in a laboratory environment an enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to that of TiO2 nanoparticles. Application of this technique can be extended for designing other advanced material systems using this metal carbide preparation route with tailored bandgap, morphology and chemical composition. This work demonstrated a successful interdisciplinary research collaboration between material science and process engineering in particular for TiO2 nanomaterial preparation.
