<28> This paper presents the development of a Personal Health System to assist in the provision of continuous and personalized health services to diabetic patients, thus empowering their lifestyle. The work has been the outcome of an international and inter-disciplinary collaboration between engineers, computer scientists, biomedical experts and healthcare companies within the EC-funded COMMODITY12 project. The Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments serves as an inter-disciplinary forum to discuss the latest developments on Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments. An extension of the prototype will be used for trials with diabetic patients in Poland and Switzerland.
