Additional information

This paper presents a novel turbulent drag reduction technique. For the first time, turbulent friction has been shown to reduce by imposing the rotation of flush-mounted discs. This represents a first crucial step toward the practical implementation of spanwise forcing, which has only been studied in theoretical simplified examples until now. EADS (contact: Head of Aeromechanics) has expressed their strong interest and now partially fund one PhD student working on a related problem.
