Additional information

The paper proposes a novel model for predicting gas turbine ignition performance based on individual fuel components and their vapour pressures. The model permits selection of fuel components, producing an optimum ignition loop that is particularly interesting for the development of synthetic fuels. This unique work was part of a Shell Global Solutions funded PhD, and resulted in Rolls-Royce making additional data available to evaluate the model at sub-atmospheric conditions (contact: Corporate Specialist - Combustion). The developing model led to a further funded PhD for GTL with Qatar, RR, DLR, Texas A&M University in Qatar (contact details available).
