Additional information

The accurate temperature measurement by a thermal imaging camera is difficult; especially on materials whose emissivity is a strong function of temperature because a thermal imaging camera has to assume a constant emissivity in evaluating the measured signal. In this paper an iterative methodology between the emissivity and temperature has been applied for the first time to evaluate the wall temperature with significantly increased accuracy. In many situations the surface emissivity is a strong function of temperature. The methodology developed will provide a significant impact on the accurate measurement of temperature using a thermal imaging camera.
