Additional information

The results helped to clarify the nature of air-core in hydrocyclones and led to significant new insights into the structure of swirling flow. As a result of this work Nowakowski was invited to participate as CI on the Thai Research Fund (TRF) programme "An intelligent computer-based procedure for design of hydrocyclones for separation process". This generated practical guidelines for industrial users of solid-liquid separators as currently equipment manufactures sell standard equipment that is not necessarily appropriate for all slurry flow regimes.
