Additional information

This paper reports the most comprehensive and systematic study to date of DNA detection by electrochemical impedance. The work led to a major improvement in the sensitivity of portable label-free DNA biosensors. Keighley was a PhD student supervised by Estrela. This work is included within patent application WO 2009/122159. This work contributed towards a EUR4.0M Marie Curie Initial Training Network "PROSENSE" led by Estrela (EUR1.0M for Bath - ref: 317420).
