Fabrication of geometrical features using wire and arc additive manufacture
An EPSRC/ Cranfield IMRC funded project (EP/E001874/1), investigating design requirements for Wire and Arc Additive Manufactured parts. A demonstrated need to redesign parts, to realise the benefits of this novel process, led to industrially-funded design studies for the Aircraft Research Association and Bombardier Aerospace, and to Cranfield participation in the £1.5 Million industry-funded WAAMMat (Technology Maturation of Wire + Arc Additive Manufacture ) research programme. Industrial partners include BAE SYSTEMS, Lockheed Martin and Air Products. Contacts: R Porter, ARA, rporter@ara.co.uk; Ken Poston, Bombardier Aerospace (ken.poston@aero.bombardier.com) and Jonathan Meyer at EADS Innovation works (Jonathan.Meyer@eads.com).
