Additional information

This paper presented for the first time a numerical solution using an adaptive Finite Element method of the non-linear solution of the Poisson Boltzman equation for an array of spheres to account for the multi-body effect on the electrostatic interactions. The paper also presented for the first time quantification of the reduction of the electrostatic force magnitude between the spheres in certain critical packing, a result that has been overlooked in previous studies, which could be used to explain the stability and strength of charged sphere arrays.
