Additional information

This work describes application of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) to an important coastal engineering problem: wave interactions with porous structures. In the paper the novel idea of using SPH to solve a set of spatially-averaged equations is developed. The resulting significant reduction in computational effort (more than 1/2 the time vs traditional approach) enables SPH to be applied to practical problems for the first time. The work was funded by a Royal Society Research Grant.
