Double-weighted statement

This book is the culmination of a decade of theoretical and methodological research on metaphor. It brings together cognitive linguistics, discourse analysis and corpus linguistics to provide a state-of-the-art account of the forms and functions of metaphor in a variety of communicative contexts. It is the first extended application of the influential method for metaphor identification proposed by the ‘Pragglejaz Group’ in 2007 (Semino is a member of this group) and develops key concepts in Conceptual Metaphor Theory from the perspective of discourse analysis. The book has been translated into Arabic, and, in October 2013, had 228 citations in googlescholar.
