Mapping and manipulating facial expression
<26> Transfer of realistic facial expression between faces is both difficult and expensive, especially if the goal is to convince viewers that re-animated sequences are real faces. We introduce an approach that allows manipulation and transfer of facial expressions that is both realistic enough to convince viewers that the sequences are real faces, and that is efficient enough to operate at video frame-rate. Our approach has inspired other significant approaches, including Marshall (Cardiff University), Lucey (CSIRO ICT Centre) and Goecke (University of Canberra). This was covered in features by New Scientist, National Public Radio (USA) and BBC Arabic.
