Double-weighted statement

This book, which Zimmer began in 2004 and completed in 2012, draws on extensive research in several German municipal, state and diocesan archives. Zimmer spent two full years in the archive (net time), which was only possible due to the award of an 18-month Humboldt Fellowship in 2004. The book relies on a systematic comparison of three medium-sized towns, using records on citizenship, economic life, religions relations, and nationalism to advance a complex argument about the centrality of temporal rhythms in the reconstruction of communal and national life.
