Eine 'verrückte Theorie': Von Schleiern und einer Leidenschaft für Faltungen: Delirierende Konstruktionen, masturbatorische Praktiken und animierte Formen (English translation: A 'mad theory' of veils and a passion for folds: delirious constructions, masturbatory practices and animate forms )
This paper focuses on the work of French psychiatrist Gaëtan Gatian de Clérambault, addressing the complex relations between the construction of folded space and the study of psychic mechanisms and trying to sieze a change of paradigm in the production of form in contemporary architecture generated by the introduction of automatic processes. It is an attempt to revisit the Deleuzian notion of ‘fold’, widely discussed in the last few decades and to question the theoretical basis of digital folding and ‘animate form’ in architecture, proposing a ‘passional’ paradigm, which interprets form-making as a libidinal and delirious construction.
