Additional information

Reduced-order modelling allows behaviour of complex dynamical systems to be predicted by simple systems that can be evaluated efficiently. These methods are proving particularly beneficial in aerodynamic modelling, but ensuring their stability and accuracy is complex. Paper is first to extend idea of restarting to allow most-efficient models produced by Eigensystem realisation to be stabilised. Work was developed within European "FFAST" project (No. 233665, €2.7M, 2010-3) that led to i-CASE award from EADS-Innovation Works [contact: Research Engineer, Loads Control & Aeroelastics] and two PhD studentships within European Marie Curie Training Network "ALPES".
