Additional information

Graphene has many ground-breaking potential applications for nano-electromechanical and nano-composite systems. Paper describes first measurement of graphene's shear modulus and also determination of its intrinsic friction in single- and multi-layers. Knowledge will allow effective design of torsional-based nano-oscillators. Work was in collaboration with US Office of Naval Research [contact: Senior Research Physicist]. Paper identified as research group highlight in REF5.
