Additional information

Paper proposes and analyses use of fibres as reinforcement for soils susceptible to liquefaction. Novelty is to observe theoretically and experimentally how fibres modify kinematic behaviour so that strain-softening material is transformed into strain-hardening one. Paper was among top-10 most-downloaded articles in journal for more than six months following publication. Follow-up work led to co-author Diambra's PhD and his permanent appointment as Lecturer at University of Bristol. Interest shown by Mott-Macdonald [contact: Project Director] and work forms basis of new collaboration with Dr. Kripakaran at Exeter University.
