This paper (over 60 citations in GoogleScholar) proposes new transceiver design principles for future communications systems capable of achieving data rates 50% higher than the state-of-the-art. The work led to a research grant funded by Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (100,000 EUR). It also led to a collaborative research grant (with Princeton University) funded by the Luso-American Foundation and the US National Science Foundation (25,000+ EUR). This work was carried out in collaboration with members of Princeton University, USA, including an IEEE Shannon Award Winner and IEEE Hamming Medalist (S. Verdú).
