Additional information

This joint work with Prof. van der Schaar (University of California, Los Angeles) provided the first approach for incremental (progressive) computation of the discrete wavelet transform, which has found extensive usage in image compression, e.g. within the JPEG2000 standard. It led to a grant (PI: Andreopoulos) from ST Microelectronics, a world-leading multimedia System-on-Chip provider, contact person: Dr. Fabrizio S. Rovati, Multimedia Roadmap Manager, AST Lab, STMicroelectronics, Agrate B.za, Italy). Key publication in support of a US NSF CAREER award (NSF 0541867, PI: van der Schaar, $392,048).
