Additional information

This paper reports classification of radar micro-Doppler signatures using methods normally used in speech recognition for the first time. The paper also introduces the use of information theoretical concepts in radar automatic target recognition systems. This technique is valuable in the defence area where knowledge of type and/or identity of all objects in the battle space is essential. (NATO-SET panel 180). Medical applications such as gait imaging are also possible and are being followed up in the UCL wireless detection programme. This work formed the basis for a book Chapter (Through-The-Wall Radar Imaging, editor Amin, M. G., CRC Press, 2011).
