Additional information

The initial idea for the Oxford Handbook of Roman Egypt came from OUP, but the entire formulation of the project, from proposal to completion, was overseen by me as editor. I chose the organization and topics, commissioned authors, and gave editorial guidance throughout. About one third of the papers required my substantial input (e.g. coverage, current bibliography, reduction in length, suitability to readership, image selection); two were essentially rewritten by me; and six needed coordination with translators. The range of authors who agreed to contribute – from early career to emeritus scholars – is an indicator of my reputation in this field.
