<22>Describes the application of NLP to detect metaphor and other emotional expressions in interactions with the system described in output 2. The work is novel in the use of robust methods to analyse language which compliment deep techniques such as reasoning. The techniques are evaluated through the use of a created dialogue corpus which was developed from real world use by school children using the system. A key aspect is the flexability of the techniques in order to be able to deal with range of language observed. The techniques have been been incorporated into later systems by the industrial partners.
