The research described in this paper is aimed at the development of a novel computer simulation model to predict the performance of an elevator system. This task is extremely challenging due to the nonstationary nature of the system. The project has been funded by an international elevator company (ORONA EIC) and a regional Basque government in Spain. The results benefited the industry and the model has been adopted as design and analysis tools in the development of high-performance elevator systems.
