This research investigated, arguably, one of the most difficult image processing problems. We used blind signal separation techniques to identify the actual colour of an object illuminated using different sources. This work complements our patent (US Patent no 2374109, 12.10.2011). The research led to an algorithm (described in this patent); this algorithm was classified (by an independent body) against 27 other algorithms submitted by academia and industry, it was the No 1 performer.
