Additional information

<15> This paper proposes a set of graphical notations to describe the structure of XML documents at the schema level. Multiples levels of normal forms for GN-DTD are also proposed on the basis of database conceptual model and normalization theories. The second contribution of this paper is that it proposes a specific method to use graphical notations to support complex document structures such as used in medical domains. Experimental results show that this approach can simplify the whole process of constructing a medical data set. Consequently, the problem of the inconsistency among complex document structures can be easily resolved.
