Additional information

Ensuring consistency in polymorphic form is critical within many process industries, e.g., foods, formulated fuels, pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals. This paper reports a novel laboratory based, at-line, flow through X-ray diffraction system and its application to monitor solution mediated polymorphic phase transformations in real-time. Of particular significance and novelty is the ability to analyse quantitatively the effect of process scale size on the kinetics of transformations. This technology has attracted industry supported research (Infineum UK Ltd, Ken.Lewtas@Infineum.com) on bio-diesel cold-flow properties and now forms part of an EPSRC Critical Mass project (Grant EP/I014446/1).
