<23>Grouping regions and other features from an image is a major open problem in Computer Vision. This paper is the first to explicitly define and use the global constraint of Pragnanz to group regions and edges. Published in one of the leading journals, IEEE TIP, with acceptance rates as low as 10%. Vantram and Saber (J.Elec.Imag 2012) claim we “provide [a] valuable [contribution] to the field of image segmentation”, Moghaddam (TIP 2012) points out our work provides a framework for theirs. This paper informed our EPSRC project ”Classifying Images Regardless of Depictive Style”.
