Additional information

Cup failure of cemented hip replacements increases exponentially 10 years post-operatively. This paper was the first to demonstrate that surgical fixation performance was influenced by patient bone size and density, and femoral head size. Our proposed surgical fixation techniques were implemented in Broomfield Hospital, were disseminated at major conferences (EORS 2010, ISB 2009, ISTA 2009), and led to a long-term collaboration with the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, to translate our computational techniques to projects on knee osteoarthritis. See REF3b for further details.
