Additional information

The paper presents the first study on the interaction of pile groups with a normal fault, with emphasis on pile nonlinearity. The developed analysis methodology has been applied to the design of 12 bridges in Greece, most located along the EKPPT Corinthos–Patras motorway, currently under construction by Apion Cleos CJV (a Joint Venture, headed by VINCI). The pile groups supporting the bridge piers were analysed applying the paper methodology and the computed sectional forces were used for pile dimensioning and reinforcement.
