This is a very substantial multi-stranded narrative work of creative writing (over 125,000 words), which was the result of significant original research in Shetland into the archival history of two families over many generations in the parish of Walls and Sandness in Shetland, as well as into the broader history of Shetland itself. Research was undertaken in Shetland and Edinburgh, collecting evidence orally and in online archives, the whole process of research and writing extending in total across some ten years.
