Additional information

Structured light methods are being pushed from 2D into full 3D application. However until the publication of this paper no one had performed the basic research necessary to take the Fourier transform method into this 3D domain. Several challenging problems had to be tackled here, including 3D filtering and 3D phase unwrapping. The paper presented the first successful demonstration of 3D Fourier Fringe Analysis, offering the potential of achieving both spatial-3D (x,y,z) and temporal-3D (x,y,t). The technique has achieved impact in the industrial/academic 3D measurement communities, particularly in increasing the robustness of dynamic measurements.
