This paper is part of series of work carried out by the author over several years, leading to appointment to the Building Standards advisory of the Scottish Government. In the immediate context of this paper, this has led to a strengthening of an already existing relationship with Stanford University through the appointment of the first author in their Engineering Informatics Group as a senior research fellow.
